Gymnastics Routines

Beginner-Girls

This level of competition is for the child who takes a basic recreational gymnastics class one day per week.

(Two attempts allowed of the same or different vaults.)

Competition Format: Beginner gymnasts will warm-up and compete one event at a time.

Intermediate-Girls
This level is for the gymnastics student who has several years of gymnastics experience or who takes classes two or more days per week.

Vault:

(Two attempts allowed of the same or two different vaults.)

Bars:

Beam:

Floor: (may be done to music)

Lunge pose, step feet together
• Forward roll to stand, handstand forward roll to stand
• Run, round-off, jump of choice
Backward roll to tuck or pike stand
• Leg swings in releve (one each leg)
• Jump full turn or full turn on one foot
• Two tumbling skills directly connected (no salto skills, please!)
• Step together, two different jumps
• Waltz step
• Ending pose of choice

Competition Format: Intermediate gymnasts will warm-up and compete one event at a time.

Advanced-Girls
This level is for the gymnast who has a repertoire of skills because she is in advanced classes at her gym or is training to be a competitive gymnast.

The North Carolina Rookie Prep rules will be used for this level with two exceptions:
1) No bar change is required.
2) Floor requires two tumbling series, however only one must have flight.

Competitive Requirements:
• All Levels will use the same guidelines for vaulting.
• For Uneven Bars, Balance Beam, and Floor Exercise there are five categories of requirements
or deductions: Composition. Presentation, Value Parts, Special Requirements & Execution
• Value Part (VP) requirements are fulfilled by adding together the value of the skills within a routine (ie. 2 'A's @ .2 each + 16'N's @ .1 each = 2.0 VP).
• A list of all A, B, C, D, & E valued skills is found in the USAG Code of Points.
• Skill and dance elements not found in the Code are N value.
ACRO refers to acrobatic skill such as cartwheels and handsprings. GYMNASTIC skills refer to dance elements such as turns and leaps.

Time
Requirements:
• Vault and Bars: no requirement
• Beam and Floor: Min :45, Max 1:30; warning @ 1:20 Over/undertime deduct. 1.

 

STATE GAMES ADVANCED GIRLS ROUTINE REQUIREMENTS

VAULT
Rookies are allowed to perform a vault using a stacked mat surface following Level 4 equipment specs. There may be three (3) vault choices all from a 10.0:

1. Jump to a Handstand. Fall to Flat back
2. Jump thru Forward Roll to Flat back position.
3. Jump to squat onto stacked mat surface, immediate straight jump to stick on top of resipit surface.

BARS, BEAM & FLOOR
Composition: (.6)
• Lack of diversified composition ^.2
• Lack of progressive distribution ^.2
• Insuf. use of entire apparatus ^.2

Presentation: (.8)
• Artistry & internal amplitude ^.3
• Dynamics ^.3
• Overall rhythm ^.2

Value Parts: (2.0) except Bars (1.6)
Value Parts values of N-.1 A-.2 & B-.4
• Difficulty may be obtained by adding any combination of skills value as N's (.1), A's (.2), or Gym (dance) B's (.4)
Use of Acro B or Gym C - 2.0 deduct
• Use of Acro C, D, E will VOID routine

Special Requirements (.6) total

BEAM (.2 each)
• Turn on 1 foot (min. of 180)
• Gym (dance) series of at least 2 elements
• One ACRO element

FLOOR (.2 each)
• Two tumbling series, one w/ min. of 2 flight elements
• Turn (min. of 180)
• Gym (dance) series of at least 2 elements

BARS (.2 each)

Minimum of 8 elements
NO bar change required
• Circle skill (min. 360) (ie. mill or hip)
